The PDF reader Evince (Document Viewer), which is installed by default, automatically reloads if the file it is. It will automatically refresh when the pdf is updated. Adobe Reader and/or Adobe Acrobat are notorious for not supporting auto-refreshing the view of a PDF .

When the file download message appears at the bottom of the browser window, click Run. Post as a guest Name. I presume that for some stupid reason Adobe Reader DC maintains some write lock on the file, probably keeping it open while the PDF is visible on screen.
For reflow view, that only applies acrorrad smaller screens, again does not fit the scenario described.
I don’t think it is a viewer issue but rather a Windows issue as Adobe Reader doesn’t lock the files on either Mac or Linux. Which I am using pdflatex to generate PDF file constantly. Close all versions of Reader. The PDF acrorsad is a rather complex file format, and while you are displaying the document, Acrobat or Reader has to access the file to display e.
You can install an older version of Acrobat Reader.

Before you install, always make sure that your system meets the minimum system requirements. Oftentimes this may depend on the operating system and the filesystem you are usinga file open in Acrobat is locked and no other process can change it, so if you would try to recreate the file, it would report an error, and you would have to close the file and manually open it again.
